1. What is your personal definition of diversity? What would you include or not include and why?
2. To what extent would you allow employees to express their diverse backgrounds in the office? (I.e., would you allow employees to wear articles of clothing specific to their religion or culture? Would you allow GLBT employees to display pictures of their partners in the office?) What are some limitations that you would impose and why? How would you handle conflict between employees regarding another co-worker's expression of his/her faith, culture, sexual orientation, etc.? (i.e., a Christian worker objecting to a gay co-worker displaying a photo of his or her partner; a worker objecting to a Christian co-worker's displaying a verse from the Bible that says God hates gays - I think this was an actual incident at one company.)
3. Listen to these two NPR segments on insults at work. How would you deal with this issue in your office?
